Orpheus is Where Music Builds Community—and Changes Lives
I sing with the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, and the chorus is running a fundraising campaign — Power the Music — kicking off today, Arizona Gives Day. The goal is $50,000, and they've asked every member to set up a personal page and reach out to their people. So here I am, reaching out to my people.
I'm not great at asking people for money. I want to be upfront about that. Here's why I'm doing it anyway: Orpheus has been around for nearly a century, and the thing that surprised me is how much of what they do happens off stage — mentoring young singers, performing for veterans and seniors, working with people dealing with memory loss. It's real work, and it costs real money.
So I'm asking: if you're able to chip in $20 or more, it goes directly toward keeping concerts, outreach, and programs running. Every amount helps.
